Grandma's journey

Grandma's last journey
She lay on the bed with sheets on her to cover from cold
She didn’t move or respond to all of us around I walked in to say Hello! And wish she could be like the way she was before
She spoke no words when I asked how do you do?
She moved her eyes to say ‘I happy to see you her today’
The silence in her voice said is all
She lay there cold and old I still remember the masala shell fish she served each time we met
But! this time it’s over
Trying to speak with her eyes and not words
What words do we say to someone you know may not be their no more
What words of comfort do you give to those who are near and dear and you know they are loosing someone close
I wish the old days were back Where we’d all be smiling and having a laugh
I remember the smell of fish curry she made with sliced salted mangos and flaky rice to fill our plates
She served with love and care but today she just lay there looking cold and old
Going to another place, going to a land unknown wishing that life there is beautiful and young
But! today she just lay there cold and old
She shall not walk or talk again cause her time has come
She is leaving for a new place to the gates of the pearly town to meet her son , brother, family and old friends again
But! this journey is just a one way ticket in her name hope the journey is smooth
May she enjoy the new abode and stay in peace in her new world where she has gone today It didn’t seem she had left and gone looked like she is going to sleep for long
Life makes everyone strong and where she gone may she become young and have peace within
But! today she is just looking cold and old
